Panasonic DMR-HS2 Self test, then BYE

I've also experienced the Panasonic DMR-HS2 doing a self test and then shutting down.

This is (as has been posted before) because the HS2 checks the DVD Ram drive and then the hard drive and if there is a problem it shuts down.

Well, I have had probs with the DVD Ram drive in the past (didnt open / close, sometimes didnt read the DVD, and is generally noisey) but there was no disk stuck in it this time, so I guessed it was a hard disk problem. I found an identical hard disk on ebay, paid £15 for it, fitted it, and it worked a treat! All back working as it should be. Couldn't have been easier.

Anyone else with this problem, take heart as its easy to fix yourself for not very much money.
