Panasonic DMR-EX89EB-K not picking up Sky

Hi, :hiya:
I'm new to these forums & not completely sure of the techie language, but here goes -
I've just bought a Panasonic DMR-EX89EB-K & my brother installed it for me today, however, it won't record Sky at all, it gives me the sound but no picture. All my Freeview channels are there, but I just can't get Sky to appear.
The Panasonic is connected by scart & av to the Sky box, which then runs off to the tv & the aerial splitter box (going to 2 other rooms).
Just for info, the Sky box is now over 10 years old (Pace) & the tv is a 14" Philips portable, not even widescreen yet!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance :smashin:

Welcome to the forum.

The usual reason for sound and no vision is simply that the scart is skewed and not pushed fully home either at the skybox or the DVDR.

Try pushing it fully in and it may sort the problem.

I assume you have the scart lead going to AV2 scart socket of the DVDR... and select AV2 as the input on the DVDR to see sky.

Incidentally - the ideal arrangement for use with sky is :

Use two fully wired scarts to take advantage of RGB.
Connect first scart from the TV out scart of skybox - as it is the only socket producing RGB.... to AV2 of DVDR

Second scart from AV1 of DVDR to an RGB capable socket of TV [ a 14" presumably will have only the one anyway]

You will need to turn OFF power saving mode in the DVDR so that you can see sky via RGB passthrough when the DVDR is OFF or timer recording.

You'll find this setting in Functions / To others / Setup / Others / Settings for standby

[ Since you are using it with a 14" unit have you set the DVDR to output 4:3? ]

Thanks to Gavtech & Adrian F for your spot-on advice. My brother has changed the settings & my Sky is now coming through.
