Panasonic DMR-EX85 – Converting DVD-Ram on PC

Standard Member
Dear All,

I have a Panasonic DMR-EX85. Most of the time, I record onto the Hard Drive, or DVD-Ram.

Occasionally, I use my PC to transfer a DVD-Ram recording onto DVD-R. I use the PC for this so that I can preserve the wide-screen switching, and therefore play the final discs on a player connected to a 4:3 TV, without aspect ratio distortion.

When watching a wide-screen programme, this is shown in letterbox format on a 4:3 TV. However, there is a broken white line running across the top of the actual image area, just where the letterbox starts. As this varies in brightness, it is very distracting.

Is there anything I can do to remove this, either on the computer or on the recorder? I use TMPGEng DVD Author 2.

Many thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer.

Best Wishes,
