Hi, first time poster so hope this is correct place.... Really hope someone can help please!

Trying to fix Panasonic DMR-EX768EB for wife's nan which is only showing black and white now?! It was colour previously. I have checked all cables and been through every option I can think of...
One of the old recordings was showing colour but everything since and TV guide etc is black and white?!

Set up is below if it helps? I've seen this asked on other posts

    TV HDD box
    ----- -----------
Scart (ext rgb) -----> AV1 (TV)
HDMI (HDMI in) ----> HDMI out
Ariel (rf in) ----------> Wall socket
Ariel (ant in) --------> RF out

I've also tried pressing green button few times quickly that was mentioned on another post.

Really hope someone can help, much appreciated!!!

    Welcome to the forum.
    Follow this sequence exactly.

Unpower the DVDR and the TV for 5 minutes.
Remove the scart lead ( not required and can confuse results)

With the TV switched off, Repower the unit and allow to initialise.
If after initialisation ( a minute or two) it does not return to the standby state, manually switch it to standby.

Once it is in standby, ONLY then, turn on the TV.
Let the TV settle for a minute and ONLY then turn on the DVDR.

    Do you have colour now?

    Hi,

I tried all of this in the order specifed but it is still black and white.

So normal TV is colour, playing a DVD on this machine is colour but when you view the TV Guide through the box or watch / record via the box it is black and white?

    Any other possible options??

    Thanks again!

The symptoms you describe in detail above ( and given that the procedure you have done has eliminated all other possible causes) indicate that the unit must have an internal problem.

It is most probably a failing electrolytic capacitor restricting the full functioning of a circuit element - but I can't say which one for this model.

An internal visual inspection may reveal a leaky or blown cap ... if you wanted to pursue that route.
(We have various threads where this sort of problem is dealt with which will have pictures of what to look for if you are not familiar with such problems)
