Panasonic DMR EH50 Fault

Hi

I have a Panasonic DMR EH50 and last week it developed a fault.

The hard drive is fine...

My parents have an early generation Sony DVD recorder GX3???, and whilst recording on a TDK Scratch Proof -RW Video mode it developed a fault on recording. I tried to reformat this very disc on my DMR EH50, however ever since it will not recognise any good quality DVD R or +R or DVD video. It will read Mirrors, or any other crap brand, but will not recognise Panasonic, TDK, TDK Scratch proof, maxell, Fufi, SONY etc.

It’s out of grantee, so do I wait and buy a new Panasonic, or does anyone know how much it will cost to repair?

Best

John

Do you get any error messages or codes? Have you tried a lens-cleaning solution? Can you leave it switched off at the mains for (say) a week?
