    I have recently purchased a Panasonic DMR-E55

I have connected the RGB SCART out from my Telewest Digibox (TV) to the AV2 connection on the recorder, I have attached a SCART to the RGB In Scart on my TV. I have also attached a std Aerial lead to the recorder as well.

Initially I struggled to get the unit to record anything but what the digibox was showing regardless of what channel I chose to record (including terrestial programmes) but that now seems to be fixed.

What I need to understand now is what I can do whilst the unit is recording, I have set the unit to record BBC1 via the terrestial coax connection, the unit has started recording and switched from the programme I was watching via digibox to the programme I am recording on BBC1, but I'm not sure if this is correct or not or how I get back to the programme I was watching on the digibox.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dont watch the recorder - watch your TV

you should also have scart from direct digibox > TV

I only have two SCART connections on my TV - One for the Digibox Via the DVD recorder and one for my DVD player -Pioneer 575. Do I need to purchase an additional switchbox??

    not necessarily

you should be able to connect your DVD Player (or recorder) to TV via s-video, leaving a scart free for digibox > TV

Nope - One S-Vid Scart (used for the DVD Player), One RGB Scart for the Digibox and DVD Recorder. The only other connections is via a front connections and that would look a bit cr*p.

Why don't you just connect the aerial to the TV directly and use the recorder to tape from the cable box? Then you will have the option of five terrestrial channels to watch when you're taping from cable.

Yes, done that as well but it seems a backward step to watch terrestial whilst recording terrestial while I have a perfectly good digibox as well

You could consider taking the DVD player out all together - how often will you want to watch a dvd whilst recording one?

Or daisy chain the player thru the recorder (E55 has 3 scarts?)

I need the DVD Player as its SACD and the E55 isn't. The E55 only has 2 SCARTS, but it does have S-Vid as well, so I could try that!!

or get something like the JS technology MSC (master scart controller) this will add an extra scart to your TV allowing you to route the cable box (VCR scart) and DVD player to AV2 independantly, and E55 to AV1
Now heres an idea tho when in stanby the E55 will pass RGB from STB to TV yes? so what happens if you set E55 to record BBC1 and turn cable box on to sky one and flick TV to AV1????
