I have a Panasonic DMR-E55, when i start it, it just comes up self check, then goes dead, then starts up again, then self check, dead again. Anyone know whats going on with this thing?
I had a DMR-E55 like that earlier this year. I replaced the electrolytic capacitors on the power supply board and it stopped doing that. I ordered the caps from Digikey and desoldered the old ones and resoldered the new ones. It took me about 45 minutes.
You should be able to get something for the unit even in its current state. DVRs like it are disappearing from the marketplace, but they are still useful for capturing and converting VHS or Betamax tapes to digital PC files.
