After my little chit chat with Richer Sounds the other day (see earlier thread ) I emailed Panasonic with a summary.

What an interesting reply, which I've mischievously copied here; anyone else heard of the E50?

    Dear Mr Wells

    Thank you for your e-mail.

In response I would explain you have nothing to fear as we have the new DMR-E50 coming out in the spring on the same format.
We plan not to allow DVD-r to come off the market.

I can inform you that your product will not become obsolete due to Panasonic being the largest electrical company in the world.

    Kind regards,
    Customer Support

Does anyone know the differance between the E30 and the E40?
The specs look the same at Avland.

The avland specs for the E-40 do indeed look identical to the E-30.

I got the info regarding the E-50 direct from Panasonic; so we'll just have to wait & see I guess...
