Hello,
I wonder if anyone knows were I might obtain a replacement board for a Panasonic DMR-BWT740 BluRay/Hard drive recorder?

I'm trying to help a friend who has accidentally damaged the HDMI socket on the back of the machine. I thought at first that it was just the socket that had been slightly bent out of shape meaning the HDMI plug is lose, but I can't get the socket to work correctly. Not wishing to risk replacing the socket, I thought I would try to obtain a second hand board and simply replace it, but after trawling the web I can't find one anywhere, all the sites that say they supply parts for Panasonic seem only to have remote controls available. There are none available on eBay nor can I find reference to any ever have been sold on there, So I'm hoping with fingers and everything else crossed that someone on this forum might know where I could obtain a replacement board? The Number written upon it is: VEP:79386ABCD

if you can help I would be very grateful.
Kindest regards.
Gerald

You could try these peple:
They are in Germany, but communicate very well in Englsh.
Specialise in Technics and Panasonic.
I have bought Panasonic BWT parts from them.
Hello thank you for responding to my post. I tried looking at the link you suggested but unfortunately it says that the site is being updated, I tried the email link on the page but it isn't working.

Strange
The email link on the site looks good here : 4-dj.de schreiben Sie uns eine E-Mail!
I did a quick trawl through the very long list of spares for Panasonic but didn't see the part number you quoted. But if the part number you quoted is taken from the PCB itself it is likely to be for just a bare PCB with no components.
The part number for a populated PCB is likely not on the PCB itself.
I don't have a 740, only 700, 720 350 and 380.
The digital PCB number for a 720 for example is "RFKB79338A" and for a 780 "RFKB79262A" or "RFKB79262B".

I have had a look at the service manuals for all the models I have (I don't have a service manual for a 740) and on all of them the HDMI socket is part of the "Digital PCB". This PCB is the heart of the machine, the main and most likely very expensive part - if you can even find one.
I would not be surprised if the costs would be more than the costs of a new machine.
It should be possible to get the HDMI socket replaced, assuming the damage is only physical.
Alternatively use the SCART output, assuming that your 740 has one.

Interestingly I just looked on the 4-dj.de web site and it does list a digital PCB for a 780 so maybe they do have what you want.

Hello, Thank you for getting back to me, I can't find the digital PCB on the 4-dj.de web site, I was wondering how much it might be? probably expensive. My best route as you suggest may be to try to get a new HDMI socket replaced, the trouble at the moment is that I'm seriously ill and in the high risk bracket so I can't get to anyone to get them to repair it for me, I do have a local computer shop who could probably do it, but considering I saw him outside sharing a joke with four of his friends all without masks and stood next to each other there is no way I'm risking going near there! So it looks as though I'll just have to wait until the current crisis improves significantly. I can of course use it as you say via a scart lead, but it is poor quality compared with HDMI so not much point using it to watch Blu Rays. I really do appreciate your advice, it's very kind of you to try to help. Take care. All the best. Gerald

So sorry to hear that you are unwell and I do underestand your reluctance to mix, I too do not go out.
You say that you couldn't find the digital PCB on the web site, did you manage to find the part number somewhere as I suspect the VEP number is not for a PCB with components attached?

Hello, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply, but I have a few bad days, it happens. Anyway as a result I have managed to have a look at the board, I'll try to as soon as I feel up to it and I'll let you know. Thank you for your concern for me and for offering to help, much appreciated. all the best. Gerald
