Panasonic DMR BS750 blue-ray ordered

Hi, I just wondered if someone could advise me.

First, my set-up at the moment:

Panasonic TH-42PZ700B television
Yamaha RX-V3800 AV Receiver
Kef 3000 Series speakers
Playstation 3
WII
Apple TV
Sky HD

Not an amazing set-up compared to some but it does me just fine except that I'm getting rid of the Sky HD and replacing it with a Panasonic DMR BS750 Blue Ray recorder (coming tomorrow hopefully as long as the courier is on the ball!).

Now the question is, would it be worthwhile, indeed even possible to connect say a 1TB external HD to the recorder for archiving purposes rather than burning onto Blue Ray media. I guess the connection would be via the USB connection on the back, if it is possible then what HD would you recommend or am thinking this all wrong!

Any help and guidence would be much appreciated.

I don't think you can do this as copy protection is on HD and it would not be possible.
