For anyone who thought there were none to be had, I have found an eBay seller from the USA who offers sets of lenses, filters etc for circa $79.99 and upwards (£44.09) + delivery for the FZ3. They have kits for other FZ series cameras and makes. Click here

Also, I have found a Japanese supplier of FZ3 metal lens adapters for 3,700 Yen (circa £18.88) delivered. Click here Email first, and he will confirm price etc. Apparently it only takes about a week for delivery. Pictures can be seen here

I hope this will be of interest to fellow FZ3 owners.

Thanks. I knew about the ebay ones but I wasn't fancying myself as a guinea pig. Also, cheaper add-on lenses are pretty much derided. I don't know where that seller gets his "
    RETAILS FOR OVER $399.99" from...

The metal lens adapter looks nice too.

    Cheers,
    Mike.

Just for your info, I bought 2 lenses, 3 filters, a mini tripod and a cleaning kit from an eBay supplier from the USA (see attachment).

Delivery only took 3 days from posting (quick), and whilst I've only tested them out briefly, I am very happy with them in terms of quality and performance. The macro/wide angle lens just captures so much more . . and the close-up's are . . well . . . really close. The 2 x telephoto now means I effectively have a 24 x zoom . . and trust me on this . . it is the dogs danglers! Bear in mind that there may be a loss of quality at max zoom. All the equipment comes in original packaging and is also supplied with their own separate bags/wallets. It really is good.

The silver finish of the lenses/adapter/filters matches perfectly with the camera.

So, if anyone else is looking to enhance their FZ3 capability (or any other camera for that matter I think), you can do an awful lot worse. :)

Wilco . . when I get some free time, but like anything else it's up to the individual! I'm happy with my purchase, so maybe you should 'bite the bullit' and have a look for yourself at the options the seller has for the FZ3.

Chances are that you may get your stuff for less than I paid. :)

review of 2x telephoto lens (first impressions) made by digital concepts
using the plastic lens adapter that comes with camera i find theres quite a drop in quality due to the tunneling effect, although i get a nice big shot at 12x(24 equivalant) i feel the quality is possibly better if you take a standard 12x shot and blow it up in Paint, tunneling becomes apparent from 8x upwards, i feel .Are you using the plastic adapter that comes with camera, pirate? and at what settings do you feel you get best results? so far i thought spot Af gave me best results, i could only give it 4 out of 10 atm

subject at around 30 feet i think

hope that helps, going to try different distances to see what effect it has ,early days yet

    too Add

just got a hold of a olympus tcon17, its 1.7x teleconverter makes the ebay one look like a piece of junk - conclusion dont waste your money on the ebay one

I concur. Having tried the lenses, the 2x zoom results in fuzzy/grainy photos at max, but less so at zoom slightly lower than this (I've tried using various settings). The wide angle lens results in some barrel distortion (curable with software), but not quite as good as hoped for.

The filters are OK, as is the lens adapter, cleaning kit and stand. Overall I am a bit miffed :( but then again, I was only trying to inform others that options were available, and having been the guinea pig for this exercise, perhaps others should leave it alone!

If anyone has alternative options for FZ3 add-on lenses, then please post your suggestions here. The cheapest TCon 17 I have found is on Amazon.

In answer to your previous question, yes, I am using the supplied plastic adapter. I am not a photographic officionado, just someone who is getting more interested in the art of photography (and have a lot to learn yet), so I hope this is of use to all that have taken the time to read these messages.

Yep - having seen the results i'm going to stay clear.

With such a superb lens in the first place these adapters needed to be spot on and it appears they fall short.

just got my lens adapter from japan, this was a nice find anyway quality item.
this has a 55mm thread so tcon17 fits straight on.Its more permanent than the plastic ring type as you have to remove the shiny ring from the front of the camera theres a small screw securing it if you look.then you add the adapter using the screw and the specialist tape supplied to make it a snug fit, the plastic lens cover still fits :) if your desperate to use the lens hood that comes with the camera it will just push onto the end,but its somewhat of a fine balancing act and would be easily knocked off

if you try fit the tcon17 to the plastic adapter you have to take about a millimetre of plastic off it(very shallow thread on teleconverter), using some fine sandpaper theres places on web that describe this in more detail look for it on google before you do this.(i,m not held responsible for any modification you make :p)

yes amazon is the cheapest place they have it in stock atm also check novatech slightly cheaper, but you have to wait about a week i think.

ill post some results before weekend if i get time :smashin:
