I am about to make a purchase and have been looking at the price of the Panasonic AX100 in various websites. I thought that it would be useful for someone in the same boat. These prices are including delivery to mainland UK and I will try and keep the prices up-to-date:

Sound & Vision - £877.00 delivered - http://www.soundandvisiononline.com/moreinfo/index.asp?product_id=11794
Digital Direct - £879.00 delivered - http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/products_moreinfo3/index.asp?product_id=11794
HifiBitz - £889.99 delivered - http://www.hifibitz.co.uk/product.asp?id=5847
Komplett - £906.74 delivered - http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.asp?sku=326377
Discounttv - £949.99 delivered - http://www.discounttv.co.uk/product/Panasonic_PTAX100_Projector.html

Although it must be noted PG and Komplett are non-UK stock and will not do pixel/convergence/quality checks. IIRC DD/S&V don't either.:)

Thanks for the list.

I was torn between the HD70 and the AX100 price being the biggest difference in my thoughts, but now it appears there is only roughly £100 between them. (all be it with the hd70 having a ceiling mount )
Ill be keeping a eye on this as come new year ill hopefully have funds for the upgrade.

Sound and Vision just knocked another quid off their price from last night. Adjusted accordingly.

What are the potential problems with it not being uk stock?

Looks like the AX100 isn't coming down in the sales. But if S&V agree to exchange if there are any dead pixels, then its a no brainer really.

Will just have to take the plunge now. Can't see them coming down anytime soon now.

get an 18 month warranty at purely digital
just noticed mine has been dispatched.
The 18 month warranty is a rip off scam by the way.. Panasonic only give a 12 month warranty with the Ax100 so how is this 18 month warranty covered? its simply at most an insurance thing. Always check the small print.

I got mine from Krish AV in Chiswick. Friendly guy, decent price and allowed me to view the projector i was purchasing before taking it from the store. Couldnt complain.
I always prefer to collect projectors and the like than have them delivered. They are panasonic dealers so far more trustworthy too.

I think you are right there.

If you read the fine print the whole of the 18 month warranty is with THEM, Panasonic aren't involved. This would tend to indicate (although not conclusive of) outside of Europe stock sourcing. Panasonic don't have worldwide warranties.

Which did you decide to purchase from? As I'm also looking for an AX100, soon (the spirit is too weak to wait apparently) I'm quite interested in your results ;-)

Hi Saintsinner

To be honest, the problems that has plagued this projector (especially over on the AVS Forums) has put me off it. I will be ordering a projector this week when I get paid and have 99% decided on the Epson TW700. It is an extra £200.00, but so far, reports are that its a cracking projector and also comes with a 3 year on-site warranty.

Honesty is always appreciated. Where did you find the Epson for 200 more? I've heard some really good things about the Epson, *think* it does lens shift as well as the AX100, and with a 3yr hotswap warrenty for 200quid more it's not a bad deal at all. (I can't verify via projectorcentral if it'll project 92" at 13ft, but as it has an ever larger zoom apability as the AX100, I'd assume it will in fact do it.)

As you can see, I'm not quite sold. I've seen all of the problems too, and that does cause me to worry a bit...

I will be buying it from a company called Projectorscreen (see direct link below). They are selling it at £1,093.93 + £10.00 delivery. Komplett are selling it slightly cheaper at £1,079.00 + £6.75 delivery. But comparing both sites, Projectorscreen states that it is UK stock and comes with a 3 year on-site warranty. Komplett does not mention that it is UK stock and only states 1 year warranty.

For less than £20.00 difference, I'd go for the UK model.

If you look at the price of the AX100 at Discounttv its £949.99 making the Epson only £154.00 more expensive.

One more thing to consider, if you are also looking for a screen, they are doing the TW700 with a 2 meter electric screen for only £1,150.00 + delivery.

Hi Saintsinner

Projectorcentral have done a review on the Epson 810 - which is the American version of the 700 (the only difference being the 810 is black as opposed the the 700 being white). They mention that they got a 100" image from 10.3' away.

Here's a good review of the TW700 - also compare it to the AX100:

Nice deals! (bookmarked! :) ) Have to agree with your take, it's worth the extra money for 3x the onsite warranty (heck, the 3yr onsite warranty alone is possibly worth 200quid right there. I think I've figured out a way to mount the electric screen in my room, so I won't have to do a portable jobby (and 1.8 gain with light control is a bit too much anyways if I'm going to be looking at anything white in the dark.) So that means the epson is only 20 quid more then I was expecting to pay for the ax100e with a portable screen. (Yes, I know it's fuzzy logic, but it means I can pull the trigger) now I just have to do a couple more rounds of measuring, but if all turns out ok I think I've found my projector :)
