Well spotted.... i've googling for these this afternoon...should just have come directly onto the forum!

Some mention that the AE2000 will be displayed in a glass cabinet at Cedia in the US within the next few weeks..where hopefully specs will be available.

I ordered an AX100 on Thursday for £699 (my first PJ). Doubt they will go much lower than that (well I hope not).

Hopefully, it will arrive Monday but more likely Tuesday.

I was considering my first PJ to be a AE1000, do you's think there will be much of a price drop on them? If so, does it usually happen just before the release, or a good while after (generally).

    Cheers.

    http://www.komplett.co.uk/k/ki.aspx?sku=326377

has it for £699 with stock arriving later this week - not sure it's true UK stock though

    http://www.discounttv.co.uk/category/LCD+Projectors/product/Panasonic_PTAX100_Projector.html

have it for £739 guaranteed UK stock and cheap extended warranty

    but

    http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/products_moreinfo3/index.asp?product_id=11794

    have it for £684

I'm not getting my garage converted until the end of the year ......do I buy now or wait for the AX200??

Interestingly the new Aussie RRP for the AX200 is LOWER than the Aussie RRP for the AX100 so it would suggest that the AX200 will arrive here at a lower price point.....maybe.....Rip Off Britain etc etc

    Cheers

    John

How does the Sanyo (Z5?) handle screen door and 1080p/24 signal?

If you're not ready I'd wait as there's always something bigger/better/cheaper round the corner. The price of PJ's seems to drop like a stone.

Just read that Australian site and I quote...

"'Light Harmonizer II' system to set the image to suit ambient light levels. It's a wanky name"

Strange description and not sure if appropriate language? Maybe it means something else down under...

This is great new for those of us who've been watching with baited breath the PT-AX100's dropping in price too.

The Z2000 is a Sharp projector, not a Sanyo, right? <<--- my bad, looks like both Sharp AND Sanyo make a Z2000 now, what the - ?

As for the Z5, it has screen door and handles 1080p/24 like most other 720p projectors - with 3/2 pulldown. The PT-AX100 is one of the few that handles it without pulldown... I guess this doesn't bother a lot of people, but personally I wanna see Planet Earth slide smoothly across my wall.

Screendoor really isn't a problem on projectors that are 720p or higher unless your sitting closer then 1.5 times the screen width.

I'm using the ax100e since since march, have about 300 hrs on it. Viewing it on 106" screen. There is no screen door unless you are right up to the screen. I'm using stardard definition dvd, so can't comment on how good the ax100 is with hi def 720, but on standard def dvd, it's fantastic to me.

Stardard definition digital tv is ok to poor, unless screen size is zoomed down to 90" or less, but that's to be exspected. Bought from Discount tv with extended guarentee.

Compared to what I paid for a much lower resolution projector 4 years ago, it's amazing what you can get now.

Thought I'd revive this thread now that the PT-AE1000 and AX100 seem to have all but sold out now and the AX200 is showing as available from Roy Jowett at £999. Personally looking forward to the AE2000 after seeing an AE1000 in action and being suitably impressed by the pq and the icing on the cake for me was the extensive lens shift. It is also nice and small compared to other 1080p units. (nearly bought one there and then!)

Some details have been available here for a while http://panasonic.co.jp/pavc/global/projector/products/ae2000/index.html

probably has more to do with the fact that Australians dont get wound up in PC like we do. remember that "where the hell are ya?" advert? made us look like idiots

personally i preffer it when a reviewer "tells it like it is" and i havent heard the term "wanky" in years lol

    love it!

Early review of the PT-AE2000 here. It's translated from German so not super easy to follow, but you can get the general impression. European RRP is allegedly going to be 2600 euros.

Impressive native contrast for an LCD (AE2000 that is). Some of the improvements really are nice, and some great user features. 3HDMI inputs is sweet.

Cine4Home guy posted on AVS that while the Sanyo Z2000 has potential, it is currently disappointing, mainly due to still not improving the dynamic iris over the Z5.

out of the new crop of LCDs so far it looks like the Panny and the epson are the choice pick. HC6000 seems a tad behind the panny, but price may make it a good deal.

    looking forward to the reviews.
