    Hi,
I bought a Panasonic ae500 LCD projector back in January, and it's been perfect up until now. But on Wednesday, it just packed up. When i power it up, the power light flashes as usual, then stays lit for a few seconds, then starts flashing again, at the same time, the lamp indicator flashes. At no time does the lamp come on at all.
Does it sound like the lamp has blown? I was under the impression that the lamps dimmed gradually (which mine didn't). It only had about 800 hours use on low setting.

    Any advice gratefully received.

    Thanks

    Mark.

Does it sound like a fault with the machine, or was i just unlucky to get a duff bulb?

No real reliability problems reported with the AE500 so I'd say it's just the lamp.

    Best of luck with it.

PJ lamps are never cheap :(

Probably worth a search here though. IIRC someone posted a link some time ago.......

I'd get it back to Panasonic & argue with them. Probably your best bet of getting a "deal" on a replacement lamp.

not consumer, but a local dealer will fit a lamp for you, perhaps supply one.

my ae300 was 11 months old, i complained of brightness flicker, and got a new bulb no problem for free....a bulb should last for at least 12 months, or X amount of hours..thats what i would argue

Finally got my ae500 back after nearly six weeks! (but thats another story), and it turns out the service agent i took it to, replaced the lamp, which promptly blew, then sent it back to Panasonic who had to replace some power supply components. Was this the same problem loads of ae100's had?
Now to try and get my £350 for the new lamp back.

Got a refund from Panasonic today for the full £350

On a more worrying note however, since getting the pj back, i've noticed that it gets extremely hot (hotter than before it broke down), and yesterday i even had the "Temp" light flashing after about 6 hours use in a room with no heating, and with a fan pointing directly at it from about 2'

There is instruction in the user manual on how to replace a lamp.
