Panasonic AE500 and Toshiba HD-DVD

Simple question: Has anyone out there with the Panny 500 played either of the Toshiba HD-DVD decks through it? If so, with what sort of results?

I ask because this is the pj I currently have (and plan to keep for another year or so), and I've just been reading here that one of its contemporaries, the Sanyo Z2, doesn't like the new Toshiba players.

Any advice would be welcome.

From another thread on the US av forum group I was reading. Seems to work just fine.

he A1 is **** poor at 720p, i have a AE500 and it shine at 1080i where at 720p is beyond DVD soft..

Thanks guys; you've helped me take another step towards the HD-DVD plunge..!

Can anyone out there tell me how good the AE500 is at displaying HD? (I've had mine for over two years and still haven't seen what it's potentially capable of.)
