Panasonic AE2000 worth £300 more than AE1000?

From looking around, I seem to be able to source an AE1000 for around £1400, and the AE2000 for around £1700.
For people who've experienced both, do you think the AE2000 is worth the extra dosh? I'm guessing that the differences are probably not THAT great.

For ref, the source will be a PS3 (BD and DVD) and the room will be light controlled (blackout lined curtains) using GreySteel4 on all walls.

Just to add, I do suffer from rainbow effect, so my next projector will need to be LCD as against DLP.

Lastly, I've now found the AE1000 for £1300 at SimplyElectronics, thus making the price difference £400.

I've had both and I paid more than £400 to upgrade to the AE2000 and I still think it was worth it. The AE1000 can look really washed out in some scenes, whereas the AE2000 is brighter, sharper and only tends to 'grey out' slightly in dark scenes with some bright bits (no PJ is perfect ;)).

Hope this helps (unless you didn't want to spend the extra :D).

There's always one....

On a serious note, thanks for the feedback, certainly gives me a better justification for the dosh.

Well I kept hunting around, and was offered a brand new AE1000 at what I thought was a stupidly low price, i.e. £900. It just wouldn't have been right to refuse.
Got it up and running tonight. Yep, I'm sure that the AE2000 might well be better, but I'd be surprised if it was twice as good.

Just got to sell the AE500 now (in classifieds).

Pleased to see you got a bargain in the end. Just to tempt you, CIne4home do a modification that can improve native contrast on the AE1000 to better than a standard AE2000 for 350 Euros. It will of course mean being without the PJ for two weeks or so. I'm getting my AE2000 done soon, now that I'm not watching it much during these long light evenings.....

Thanks for the heads up. I see that Cine4home are based in Germany. Have to say that I wouldn't be comfortable dealing with a non-UK group. Is there an equivalent over here?

No there are only franchises in Germany, which means the worry of shipping it safely....the main reason for my procastination. I posted on another thread asking for recommended couriers that would give full insurance incase of damage or loss in transit, but no positive replies came back.:( Hopefully I can find a suitable courier otherwise I won't be getting mine done as good as the mod sounds.
