Relocating upto Newcastle in the next month so will have some money to finally buy a plasma, would have about 6K to spend.

Am interested in the Panasonic 50" plasmas (and perhaps the Hitachi 55" screen), but am confused about what the difference between the HD6 and the HW6 are?

In the 42" screens it seems the difference is resolution, but on the 50" screens they're both 1366 x 768.

So, what i'm wondering is what is it about the HW6 that makes it almost £1000 more expensive than the PD6?

Is it really down to onboard fans and a silver bezel?

There are minimal differences in the menu system, but yes it is simply the bezel colour! Panasonic Conusmer have one pricing structure (they sell the silver ones) and Panasonic Business systems another (they do the charcoal ones).

Wouldn't bother with the Hitachi 55", it's big but not as good as the Panny.

I would also take a serious look at Fujitsu 50" and 55" models. P50XHA20ES is very good, and if you want a monster! Wait for 65" Panny!

    Laura,
You should be able to find the Panny 50" for a lot less than 6K
Crampton & Moore are advertising the silver version for 4.5K + £40 delivery.
Av-Sales & NexNix also have pretty good pricing on the charcoal models.
+ Many more that I have not mentioned
So search around there are good deal to be had

hornydragon, not sure i'd be able to afford a 65" plasma - well not without giving up the planned new kitchen for my other half...

Will need to arrange some viewings when we've moved (end of july).

mseabro, have seen the AV-sales price , will be on my list of people to look at.

Ah another XHA30 owner, Good arent they! with a 50" a Scaler/video processor is a must unless you are using a PC for all aps. (or like it a bit fuzzy) New pioneer worth a look also.
