Hello, I'm thinking of buying the E1 and have the Panasonic 42PX60 TV. Ijust wondered if any of you have the same tv and have hooked it up to an E1. Are there any issues I should be aware of? Like judder etc..

    Thanks for your time.:smashin:

Do you have any region 1 US DVD's ? If so this will provide some indication of 3:2 judder on 60hz playback on your display. If you don't notice it it's not likely to bother you with HD DVD.

I have a HD-E1 Hooked up to a 42PX60 and it is SUPERB!!

Hd-Dvd's look outstanding, and upscaled SD Dvd's look fantastic (even better than my RDR-HX510 could show them in prog scan)

No issues either with the tv and player so far.

Thanks for the replies. Avi, I don't have any R1 DVD's. Nick, have you seen any judder when playing HD-DVD's?

    Thanks again.

I haven't seen any judder or noticed any probs really (to be honest I don't sit there with the intention of looking for problems, I just whack on a dvd, sit back and enjoy the film - this is not to say I dont care about any probs, its just I haven't noticed any that are bad enough to annoy me)

One of the biggest things aside from the obvious picture diff is the way they sound. I have it hooked up to a yamaha 759, and before through optical I could only get around 640bps whereas now I am getting the full 1.5mbps sound (on HD-DVD) going into the amp which really does make a difference!

Also thinking about adding an E-1 to my setup, with the PX60 being delivered on Tuesday. As usual though its a minefield! Do I go with the XE1 because my Denon 2106 doesn't have HDMI input, or foresake TrueHD for now and save some cash. As usual when upgrading stuff, there are far too many questions and never enough answers:D

Thanks for your help Nick. Really pleased that the sound is better for you too. Looks like I'm getting an E1 then!

All the best for the new year.

    Happy viewing & listening.:D

I have the Panny 42-PX60B plasma with the HD-E1 and have seen no problems described.
I'd say that the worse the picture can be is on normal TV broadcast and on the Panasonic plasma it's the best I have seen.
As for DVD & HD DVD the picture is nothing short of superb.
For the prices that they are being sold for now Id say buy with total confidence that you are getting one of the best setups around.

Cheers for that Carl. I got 3 HD-DVD's for Crimbo: The Pianist, Jarhead & Syriana so can't wait to try them out on the E1 when I get it.
