Hi,

i'm a stranger to home cinema and this is my first post here. thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm buying a panasonic 42PV500E (http://www.panasonic.co.uk/plasma-tv/th42pv500ped/index.htm) and, since this monitor has HDMI input I was wondering if I should buy a dvd player with HDMI. is it worth it?

also, I read in other threads that SCART output doesn't provide progressive scanning and I would be better off connecting the dvd player to plasma with component video... on searching for a dvd player, i found the yamaha DVD-S557T (http://www.yamaha-online.de/product...t2=4&idcat3=4&idprod=1224&archivset=&newsset=) to be well priced for me, and it has 525 and 625 progressive scanning when connected through Y Pb Pr jacks.

how do I know that the panasonic plasma is compatible with this? info in panasonic website all it say is: "G8 Progressive HD Plasma Panel"

thanks
