i am looking for a new 42" plasma, dvd recorder and surround sound. Having looked around for a while i am thinking of the following:

Panasonic TH42PV500 - Im totally settled on this model now after reading the threads here.

Pioneer DVR-920H - It looks to do everything i need and more. i particularly like the HDMI connection added to the recorder and large HDD.

Yamaha YSP1 - I saw one in use and thought it was amazing. + the set up may not be in the sitting room for long so additional speakers dont really appeal and a fully integrated installation does not seem worthwhile bearing this in mind.

Wharfdale SW150 Subwoofer. Need to keep the costs down here. But all reviews say the yamaha could use a separate subwoofer.

Most of the watching will be through Sky+ and then Sky HD when it comes out.

I would really like any comments on these individually and whether they will work well together and any contact re: installation in NW London.

    thanks for your help.

OK the PV5000 has decent sound so get a demo, if going for a PV500 i would get the panny equivalent of the 920 (better integration) and alot of dealers are offering a free basic panny DVD-R with the PV500 so could get them to upgrade you to a HDD unit. As for install try asking MAW (forum name and the dealers listed in the CI thread Zebra etc) Oh and save up for a better SUB!!!!!

not for use with a PV500 no SKy HD boxes will probably include Sky+ functionality anyway. There are ither things to look at for DVD-recording.
