I think it really depends on the supplier m8, it seems a very good price, but if the supplier is not any good, then that could lead to problems.

have you got a link to the deal?

its out of stock at the mo, but over the weekend it has been saying 98 in stock, then none then back to 98 etc, if u want a good deal from a reliable dealer and sponsor of these forums, have a look in the special offers forum further down the main page, av-sales are doing the same unit with a board for £1650 I know who I would rather hand my £1650 over to.

    Hope this helps

When you say Analogue Cable box m8, do you mean the old Jerrold as used for NTL and Telewest/Eurobell ?

If so I would think the picture you will get on the plasma will be very poor, I used to have analogue years ago and it was bad enough then on my 36" CRT.

yeah afraid so, its an old NTL box, but as its not mine to change (rented flat) plus my internet connection is also thru it im gonna need to know the ins & outs

will the picture quality suffer purely bcos it analouge and not digital that much then?

    (apologies for all the questions)

i would (if you really have to use analogue cable and have no other choice.........) run it through a DVD-Recorder........ but getting a decent Freeview box or Sky is the better option... ALso llok at the Panny TH-42PE30 its a TV rather than a Panel and may suit you more http://www.av-sales.co.uk/plasma/html/panasonic_th-42pa30.html same internal as PW6 but more built in kit Digital and analogue tuners..... 3 scarts etc etc etc oh and speakers....

i have dealt with ebuyer a lot over the last twelve months, mostly computer hardware i have spent about £1000 with them and never had anything but good relations with them, that is why im tempted to go for this screen from them,
what i need to know is the free box with the screen will i be able to connect my ntl digi box and my dvd player if so which connections would be best ?

    any help appreciated

Like HornyDragon says, if you can afford a dvd recorder aswell then this may be the best bet if you want a PW6 this will convert the signal over to scart/component etc or go for the Vierra Series which is a TV rather than just a Panel hence the difference in cost, you could go for the Tosh RDXS32 about £369 ish now, this will copnvert the analogue input over to RGB SCART or Component, I am not sure about the £200 ish Panny DMR55 whether this will convert signals aswell, the tosh is a HDD/DVD rec whereas the DMR55 is only a DVD recorder. I am sure someone will point out if the DMR55 will do what you want it to.

    Cheers

Hi m8, firstly I would email or contact Ebuyer to find out which Video Board they are including with the panel, I expect its a Scart board if so then you should be able to connect the digi box to the dvd player (if you have 2 scarts on the player) then the player to the panel, otherwise you may have to get a RGB scart switch, does your dvd player have Component out on it, as this is the best option for Plasma's

    hope this helps

i would suggest you check the powerbuy thread by Alistair collie of AV-sales and get a quote for a PW6, mount of your choice, E55 recorder and component board. buying the lot from one supplier is very handy and will probably work out about the same as buying bits all over.......

This thread is very interesting from my point of view.
    I have sky+ and a good DVD player Pio747.
All I want to know is-
    1) Will my Pioneer 747 convert the external Sky+ to component?
    2) How tall the PW6 is with the desktop stand?

I mailed EBuyer about the included board. It's a TY42TM6YB which gives you:

    Component
    Composite
    S-Video
    RGB

and takes up 2 slots out of the 3

i dont think Pio will convert the RGBS scart signal to component but it may... If it is Dual Slot Component and S-video/composite board i would suugest you Component for DVD and S-Video from Sky+

this can go in slot 1&2 or slots 2&3 but is a BNC connection board (i prefer BNCs) but RCA to BNC cables are rarer and and tend to be more expensive but better quality.

Panasonic DMR-E55 DVD recorder that just happens to be able to convert RGB from Scart etc inot component and replay DVD via component as well as record and time shift your veiwing.............. not bad for Approx £200 especially as an RGB>YUV converter will cost you £120......

I assume the panasonic would have to be switched on to take a feed from a telewest box and up-convert to component? Or is it in any way "passive"?

This is interesting, my pioneer 747 takes in an s-video feed via scart and then converts it up to RGB.
Hornydragon, what about a component to vga cable for my dvd player and then just the scart board for sky+.
    Any thoughts?

I'm no expert but I would wonder what the point of that would be. I am interested in converting rgb (two similar quality signals) to make connection to a plasma easier and hopefully cheaper.
If you are 'upconverting' composite (a poor signal) to component then there wouldn't be much (if any) change in quality.

Well it's the fact that I have a VCR that the wife and kid occasionally use.
I would also like to buy a DVD/HD recorder of some type soon.

Thought that rather than buy a scart board for my plasma that only the VCR is ever going to use I could kill two birds with one stone and buy a DVD/HD recorder that also upconverts composite to something sensible (preferebly component, as i will be getting a component switcher pretty soon too)
