has anyone seen these machines side by side ?
if so, except for the obvious, are there any other differences ?

I read over and over that it is inavisable to 'buy blind' but I cannot find anywhere that has a 42" panasonic series 7 screen of any description within reasonable travelling distance but I have seen a 37" and it compared very well to the other screens on display. If there is really nothing in it except for size + price I may well just plump for the 42".

blackadder (man that took some working out!! at this time of night)

There are a couple of shops in Nottingham that apparently have PWs on display - a day out to Shropshire may be out of the question but you would see what can be done with plasma if you could make the trip.

I have checked all the likely suspects in Nottinghamshire and the only place that had a panasonic on display was Richer Sounds and that was the 37pw7
they are waiting for stock of 42pw6 but I would prefer a series 7 hence the question regarding any non obvious differences between the 37" and 42".

    ENL has closed
Nottingham sound and vision are not selling panasonic because they are not 'high def ready' ( their words not mine )
A place in ng9 that supplies education and business will only get stock in to order so have no demos except for JVC :(

I may have to resort to the yellow pages

I would love to be able to travel to shropshire but at the moment I am working 7 days a week and can't forsee getting a day off until Easter Sunday and then after that some weeks before another day off so distance is important as travelling time will cut into my much needed respite from work ( gotta pay for these expensive toys somehow ).

All understood about the difficulty of travelling, but its not much more than an hour and a half to here. Don't go buying without demo-ing - please!!

The only significant difference between the 37" and 42" is that the former only has 2 input card slots (the 42" has 3). So if you want to connect multiple devices directly to the panel, you may be inconvenienced.

Piers: do you not consider that a demo of the 37" would be dufficient, particularly given the reply by Sulis ?

Agreed that you probably don't need to see both. Just hope the 37 is properly set-up.

Stuart Westmoreland in Loughborough have a 42" PW7 on display. Its about 25mins south of Nottingham on th A60. The shop is right in the centre of town. They have a branch in Melton Mowbray too if that's closer

Stuart Westmoreland Ltd. 10 Cheapside, Melton Mowbray, LE13 0TP. Tel: 01664411511.

I'm not linked to them in any way - I went to the store in Loughborough to demo the 42" and then purchased through www.123electricals4me.co.uk, who I would recommend.

They are both on display in the Panasonic shop, Market St. Leicester, if you fancy a bit of a journey.

P.S., hello, I am new here :smashin:

Melton isn't far away at all, in fact I am in the vicinity of the Vale of Belvoir which is not far at all from Melton. Thanks guys I will probably be able to get over there pretty soon.

    Echo3 : did Westmoreland's staff know their stuff ?
