    Hi,

Just saw the new 37" Panny PE30. It was amazing!
Is there much difference in PQ between the 37" and the 42", which I'm probably gonna buy. Differencies in black levels?

Screens will be exactly the same, as they use the same components...

From what I can see the 37" and 42" models incorporate the same features and values for certain aspects of the screen. However changes appear in the 50" version whereby the resolution is higher and the contrast level is lower (3000:1 when compared to the 37/42" 4000:1).

    Hope that helps! :)

I know the contrast on the 50" is 3000:1 and the 42" is 4000:1.
But, is the difference very big?

I am considering both, but PQ is very important to me.
I have the Pio434 but I'm gonna sell it.
I saw The Panny 42PE30 side by side with the Pio and the Panny was much, much better. The Pio was receiving an HDMI signal(720p) and the Panny was receiving a progressive component signal. Both of them was calibrated with the DVE disc. Even with the higher resolution Pio, the Panny beat it hands down. Side by side the Pio looked so washed out and lifeless.

    I'm going for the 42" PW6(since I don't need the speakers)or the 50"PH6.

Is there much PQ difference on those two models?

    Thanks

    Claus

    Hello Claus

No way should a Pioneer PDP-434HDE look washed out or lifeless; something amiss with the set-up.

That aside if you preferred the 'Panasonic' look then you will find that the entire Panasonic PlasmaTV and Plasma Display range has a very similar overall 'look'.

There are differences though once you start looking a bit closer within the range and the 4000:1 vs. 3000:1 contrast difference between the SD and HD models is not one to worry about; you'd be hard pushed to tell which was which as far as contrast goes.

More important is how the various models process video and for me the 42" and 50" HD Display models have the best video processing in the current line up.

    Best regards

    Joe

If you look at a 37 and a 42 side by side, I'd put money on it you'd prefer the 37 picture quality. The screens are the same resolution but the smaller screen makes this resolution look much better.
