    Hi all

I've had a Panasonic 32LXD52 for 3 weeks now and noticed last night it emits high-pitched buzz when a picture is showing. Buzz is quiet but audible sat 3 metres away when volume is low. Not nearly as loud as Sky + box fan but more annoying as so high-pitched.

I have Picture set to Auto, MPEG noise reduction to max and watch Sky through RGB. Sound goes via a separate amp and speakers.

Anyone else heard similar from this TV? Otherwise a great set with a better picture than my old Phillips CRT with Sky - provided MPEG noise reduction is max.

    Regards

    Arun

My LXD32 does buzz slightly but it is only noticeable when you put your ear reight by the set.

Whilst watching TV normally there is no problem.

I think its the case with most flat screen tv's, the bigger the screen the louder the buzz!

I have a high pitch buzz which is emited from the right hand side of my 32LXD52. An engineer came around to my home, carried out a few tests:rolleyes: and said that the Panny was faulty, my replacement is coming this weekend, I must check it before the delievery guys leave.

Attempting to purchase an LCD television can drive one bonkers....Samsung = tearing / firmware issue's - now the Panasonic's are buzzing.....ye gods....

Considering that the members of this forum must only account for a small precentage of the sets sold in the UK, how many problems are being reported by those few....

    Back to the drawing board.....

    Hi

Buzzing is normal from any LCD TV, I just put my ear to the TFT LCD monitor I am using and can hear a buzz on that as well!

Those who say they can't hear anything even with their ear to the set may need to listen less to their iPods or at a much-reduced volume.

LCD TVs buzz due to the 16 or more electrical transformers that drive the back-lights then another half dozen or so that drive everything else. In the same way a power brick has a mains harm when you put your ear to, TVs also make a noise, but due to the higher frequency the transformers run to be more efficient, make more of a buzz than a hum.

Depending on your back light settings and even the input source or image being shown, the buzz may be less or more or vary in pitch.

Turning the backlights down will normally cause the buzz to increase due to the way the dimming occurs, as the lights are very quickly turned on and off to lower their brightness (pulse width modulation) and this in itself can create a buzz. So if the buzzing disappears at full brightness but appears as you turn down the brightness, that is normal.

Of course the manufacturers will ensure that from normal viewing distances the buzz is as inaudible as it can be, but even then you may still just hear it with the TV muted in a quiet room or at low volume.

Noises from TVs are nothing new, CRT TVs also make similar noises or worse a very high pitched noise that some people can hear all too well.

If your set is making a loud buzz that is still heard when the volume is at a reasonable level, i.e. it isn’t just a faint background buzz or is screaming at you, then you can try for a replacement. There is nothing faulty as such with a TV making a more unusual loud noise, i.e. it isn’t going to go bang or stop working after 6 months, and it could even go quiet after a run in period.

    Regards

    Phil
