Panasonic 2010 Models - How Long To Wait ?

I have had conflicting reports on when the new Panasonic 2010 models will be available to purchase in the UK.

My local Panasonic dealer has advised that they will be available from the beginning of March and press reports support this fact by stating that the new models will be released in Japan early February and rolled out Worldwide soon afterwards.

However, posts on this forum imply that, as for previous Panasonic model releases, they will not be available until late Spring early Summer.

Does anyone really know as I'm in the market for a new 50" Plasma and would like to know how long I will have to wait.

Thank You

Expect new models from end-Feb early March if Panasnic follow usual schedules. But they dont release all models at once, so some might not be available to May/June or even later for the vey large models.

French models

Interesting, but the French article does not reveal its sources, so it can't be taken as gospel.

If true, however, it looks like the V20 is the natural successor to the V10 - will it share the same panel as the G20? Or in other words, will it be based on the Infinite Black panel rather than the Infinite Black Pro panel of the VT20 (which has the new phosphor tech)?

Shame there is no word on prices. The 10% fall in Japanese MSRPs from 2009 G1 to 2010 G2 panels might have been emulated with the French pricing. I'm dying to find out how much the VT20 (VT25 at CES) is going to cost! :D

It makes sense that the panels would be available earlier than has been traditional for Panasonic. They have obviously been winding down production of models like the V10 for some time so I'm sure those factories are not just sitting their idle.....

When House of Fraser were flogging 50v10s at £1299 with 5 year guarantee back in November, it seemed odd given how they'd been out only a few months. The market price at that time was about £1400 without an extended guarantee.

I've always thought it was something to do with the release of the 2010 models - did Panasonic choose House of Fraser as an avenue to reduce stocks?

I think this is highly unlikely seeing as the V10 has been in short supply since day one :)
