Panasonic 103" TH-103PF9EK Owners Thread

Well......there must be at least someone who has one of these beasts at home?

Home use thread only - No corporate use posts please :D

Apparently it's £50,000 plus a rumoured £5,000 for a compulsory Panasonic install?

Now come on....There are always one or two people who have to have the latest and biggest.

I'm betting that despite this beast being designed for places the size of the Grosvenor House Hotel Ballroom, there will be a few people in the country with EXTREMELY large lounges that might buy this.

But having said that I reckon there will be at least one person who lives in a very small flat with a tiny lounge who has one of these entirely covering the largest wall in that tiny space! Come on, own up whoever you are

Post your pics please of your monster in situ!

So come on guys, show off and tell us all about it. :lease:

By the way, if you look at the manual it comes with TWO mains plugs......Wonder what ones electricity bill is using this as a main display? Yikes.

One never worries about one's bills, as they are taken care of by the chap one hired to look after such trivialities.

I'm posting on this thread on aspirational terms only........it's a club I'd really like to be in, but I fear the walls of my new build house would collapse as a result.....

And I'd need another mortgage to afford the damn thing.....

I realise this is not about the 103" plasma AND its corporate use... but it is in the spirit of the post!

Those are 3 x 12,000 lumen Sanyo XF47s.

Saw one in John Lewis Oxford Street earlier in the week with a PS3 running Ridge Racer on it and size aside didn't think the picture quality was that great.

I was in a very good shop in Tottenham Court Rd the other day and was told that they had sold one of these 103" jobbies but that it hadn't been delivered yet. Was also told that John Lewis haven't sold any yet.

May or may not be true.

For those worried about their petty cash installation doesn't cost £5,000. It's included in the £50,000 price. If you have to ask....etc etc

And thank goodness for that, the Butler has a bad back and Cook is far too busy :rotfl:

I heard that JL had sold at least 6 of these and you have to have a survey first then pay £5000-£6000 for installation.

Here's the piccie again:

You will be pleased to note that the the pixelisation you can see is due to my low res camera phone and not the TV!

Saw Rigde Racer played on it. Two kids were sitting on the floor four feet away playing it. Very cute, every child should have one. Personally, I'd like to see Resident Evil on it.

I liked the PQ but I'm not an expert. Glad I didn't see any snakes - ooo eerrr

I'm off there now so may get another piccy.

In theory what with JL having a 28 day return & refund policy, there are probably some ppl that might order one just to see out of interest at home then return it.

I suppose this 'survey' negates the problems that JL may have had ordinarily in such a scenario as having a custom install/anything, immediately nullifies their 28 day policy for a full refund, JL deducting a reasonable percentage off the refund for custom products. Any reasonable percentage of £50,000 is going to be a pretty expensive 'play at home' trial.

Personally I'd love to hear a John Lewis' salesman do a pricematch guarantee on this product...

Who's up for setting up a company, do an ad on the web and say we have one in stock for peanuts... then the other one of us goes into JL and says.. did you know that screen is only £££'s at such and such a place... here's their number & web details..... when mr JL phones us.. Bingo... :D

Thing is, JL do the PMs BECAUSE they aim to trade with the best price but expect fair play - thus they'd go for it! However, it would have to be on the SAME terms, e.g. correctly labelled & in a local shop etc etc

I believe the survey is a Panny one - don't know how much it costs if your plasterboard walls can't cope :(

RidgeRacer piccy - in sole player mode the jaggies were evident - looked better in two player mode. The low res camera makes the picture better than it is.

Ha! :D as if this is selling to ANYONE here:rotfl:

That's a useful pic for showing its size in perspective with a chap in front.

Crikey, the thing is massive!

The thing I don't get is that for that price you can get a helluva projector setup and not be limited to a measley 103" (and no ka-razy survey costs too!), I think this is just a bit of chest-beating on behalf on Matsush*ta who feel the Koreans breathing down their necks.

Anyone want a bet we see a 104+" plasma from LG or Samsung in the next 6 months?

103PZ600 costs 22,000 GBP in Japan.

I sat for about an hour in a store in Akihabara in Tokyo watching a Japanese concert from Blu Ray a few days ago.

It cost 6 million yen (actually I think it was 5.998.000 yen) which is around 25.000 GBP. I'm sure you could find it cheaper though. I don't have my notes with me but it was set up with some pretty good amp and speakers. Total package price was over 12 million yen.

I have to say I thought the quality was pretty amazing. Sitting about 5 meters away it was hard to seen any problems with the picture. I measured up the 3 meters away that I sit from my 50 inch at home and the picture was good enough from there that I would have installed it immediatly. That is if someone would give me one of course :)

I did shoot some video of it with the new JVC 1080i videocamera but it might take me some time to figure out how to get that to a format I can post on the net. Haven't even checked how it came out yet.

Survey Cost? A few hundred pounds depending on location.

Home users. If you had enough money for one of these, would you want to advertise it?

Tottenham Court Road Sale? Er.... No!

Anyone bought one of these nice little panels yet? Perhaps for one's drawing room or maybe your ballroom?:)

What's SD Freeview like on it from say 10 feet away?
