Well yes and no. I'm trying to get my expectations in check, hence the inane questions. Whilst I appreciate my D750 is a better camera and should deliver better results, I also know the lens plays a vital role, and also a lot of people say that there is no discernible difference in IQ between FF, APS, and m4/3 in good light. Whilst IQ of them all is very good I still think my D750 delivers better results across the board so I'm not sure about this last statement. Most people of course will say I'm deluding myself (when I say most people I am of course referring to Jim
).
What I am trying to get at in my usual long winded round about way is, without trying one of these 150-600mm lenses I don't know if I'm trying to get something that is not achievable with this type of lens, and that results will only be marginally better and only really visible to the pixel peeper, or whether results will be significantly better. If it's the former then there's not point in me spending £700-900 on another lens, but if it's the latter then I'd be 'happy' to buy one.
I know really the only way I'll know for sure is to try it for myself, but just going into store and trying one won't tell me a lot, and hiring one is the best part of £100 down the toilet.
Just thinking out loud tbh
