i hav recently bought a panasonic e50 and it records of sky to the sony dvdr medium and plays back on the panasonic fine, but it will not play on any other dvd player i have. My question is it possible to record something on the panasonic and play it back on another player, if so what media is the best ot use and do i have to set something up on the recorder to enable this.

I read your post as "you have made a recording off Sky on a Sony DVD-R but it won't play back on your normal DVD player" - is that correct? If so the reason for this is you need to Finalise the disk.

Insert the DVD-R, goto Functions/Disk Information and select Finalise. This will turn the DVD-R into a DVD-Video that will play in virtually all DVD players.

If you use DVD-RAM disks you will get numerous features but the disks will not play back in most DVD players.
