Can I have people's opinions on these please. I was initially going to buy the liteon 5045 when I noticed the pana with it's excellent 4hr LP feature. Now I've just seen the Toshiba with it's 160gb drive. It seems it is potentially better recordings vs larger storage

Anyone able to say how both machines compare?
    Thanks!

Both are good machines. For recordings of 2 hours or less you'll find it hard to tell the difference.

    Advantages of the Panasonic:

    - Up to 4 hours at full resolution (vs. 2:20 on Toshiba). Better quality on long recordings.

    Advantages of the Toshiba

    - DV in
    - The larger HDD
    - Can control a set top box

Also should note: some have reported the Toshiba's fan is noisy; I have the earlier XS32 and don't find it so.
Also, the XS32 allows you to record the widescreen flag, the Panasonic does not. This isn't a major issue, the panny will record widescreen fine, it just won't allow your TV to automatically switch aspects on a DVD-video you create.
