What? Where's the connection between NTSC and SECAM?

there isnt one, its just a safe bet that if your TV accepts NTSC signals its more than likely it'll accept seecam (which is very similar to PAL anyway)

Dont know if it accepts NTSC but I dont think that makes any difference tbh.
Its an oldish (about 7 - 8 years old) widescreen (Will have to check the model number)
As said above they use SECAM in France (if he has to buy a new one Im nicking his old one when he goes :D)

Genrally PAL TV's will not work in France. Most modern PAL TV sets have a PAL tuner, and will accept an NTSC signal via Scart. On larger high spec sets this may also include SECAM input via Scart. But at a guess, I would say only 10% of large screen sets in the UK are capable of this. If he's mocing for a long time, and wants to receive the French TV channels, I's sell his set before he leaves and buy a new one out their. Most SECAM sets sold in france have a PAL input via SCART, so he can keep his DVD Player.
