I have just recieved my panasonic ptae300 projector and have connected my US Xbox to it using a high definition pack and am amazed what a difference progressive scan makes. So here comes my question, i am looking for a dvd player that is capable of progressive scan but i don't really want to spend anymore than about £500 (less if possible). Also, as my Xbox is connected using the component leads so will a DVD player still output in PAL progressive through the RGB scart connection or would i have to use the component connections?

    Any help very much appreciated

    Hi,

You won't be able to get PS from the Scart - component only, I'm afraid.

The Sony DVPNS730 does PAL/NTSC Progressive Scan and is not too expensive - in fact I'm sure you can get it for quite a bit under £200.

so does the Yamaha sd540, andits around £100. Its had a couple of reviews in the mags on sale at the moment, I think What Video and TV gave it 5 stars and DVD Reviewer gave it a grouptest winner award.

HK DVD 25 and 30 are NTSC & PAL PS there are couple on the classifieds at the moment but can both be found for less than £500 will need YUV inputs but a switcher is not too much or the perfect reason to upgrade to an AV amp with component switching ie Denon 3803 HK AVR4550 Marantz SR7300 or similar.
