    Hello,

I have an pioneer PDP 433hde and recently bought a panasonic DVD recorder dmr-e500h.

The progressive scan works in NTSC but not Pal.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    gpar123

    Hi,

I'm afraid the 433HDE isn't compatible with PAL PS signals. You will have to rely on the media box doing the deinterlacing. Hope this helps.

    Hi Steve,

Sorry, but I am not so familiar with the media box. Could you elaborate?

    Thanks,

    Joe,

I'm still a bit confused. If the panel is not Pal PS compatible, how can the media box make it compatible?

    Regards,
    George

    Hi George,

The 433HDE's media box will accept interlaced PAL signals and then deinterlace them, but it won't accept an already deinterlaced PAL signal, as the PAL PS standard wasn't ratified when this model was released. Hope this helps.

    Steve,

    Thanks. I think I understand.

This means that I have to leave the Progressive Scan on the Panny DVD recorder to OFF when watching in PAL.

The media box will do the interlacing, but it is not Progressive scan.

    Regards,
    George

Nearly right! The media box will deinterlace the PAL signal to produce a PS picture on your plasma. Hope this is clearer.

How about using a video processor such as the Crystalio VPS-2300?
