For players that state they are PAL progressive scan does this mean that if the player was modded to be a mulit region player that NTSC discs would not be displayed in pro scan?

NTSC progressive scan was available on DVD players before it's PAL counterpart was ratified, so when PAL progressive was made available it was seen as quite a step forward. Most players that support PAL progressive are fine with NTSC progressive too.

Do you have a particular player in mind?

Was looking at the Denon 1910 but after reading an AV mag (cant remeber what) i was looking at the tosh 150 or 350 as it said the pic was as good as players costing 200+.

Any recomendations on a good player, with component pro scan and outputs 720p (not sure is the tosh do this)

The players that I know of which will upscale to 720p will only do it via a digital (HDMI/DVI) connection. I am sure there will be one somewhere that will upscale via component, but I've not come across it yet.

I've not seen any of the latest models, so can't really make a recommendation, but a few people on here are raving about the pioneer 575 saying that it beats the newer 585, although this doesn't upscale.

Have a look at these threads.

The samsung machines (HD950 I think) also seem to attract good reviews.
