Nothing to do with region coding here.

On most modern UK DVD/TV kit if you play an NTSC disc it will display OK.

Does anybody know if the converse if true, if I send a DVD-R that is PAL to the USA will people there be able to play it no modern NTSC kit ?

My guess would be yes, but I was after more concrete info.

    Thanks Keith

Only if they have a player that does PAL<>NTSC conversion. Very few TVs on this side of the pond will convert the signal and most players will not pass the signal unless specifically stated. It is becoming more common in players, but it is still FAR from being mainstream. Check with your friends to see what kind of player/TV they have, or they might be disappointed.
