I got DVDs from Australia and they're in PAL format. I have an NTSC player (Region 1, US) and was wondering if I could play my PAL DVDs on my player. Thanks!

If your DVD player isn't built for PAL (and many sold in the US/Can aren't) then there's no hack (etc) you can do to make it work.

Also, many North American TVs won't handle a PAL signal.

If either of these things are true of your equipment, then, as Lion says, a player such as that one is needed. In particular, will play both PAL and NTSC, any region, and will convert output to PAL or NTSC to match display equipment.
