Pairing a Sky subs card and freesat box questions?

Looking for a answer to a couple of questions.

My daughter has a Sky+ box in her room. I have moved her TV to the wall and intended to use a HDMI lead to hook up box to the TV until I remembered the + box doesn't have HDMI. If I buy a SkyHD box off ebay can I call Sky and have them pair the + box card to the HD box?

I have sat cables in the converted loft and my daughter carts the box upstairs when friends stay. Rather than doing that (and I already have 3 Sky boxes on subs so don't really want another) can I get a freesat box and hook it up the sat wires coming from the Sky dish? Will it work and see channels etc?

Many thanks

Sky will pair your card to any Sky box but once paired but once done it will only work in a very limited way in its original box - Sky cards - using in other Sky boxes, pairing, etc | AVForums

Any freesat or non subscribed Sky box will work on the cables connected to the dish. A Sky box will have twice the number of free channels on its EPG (unfortunately with all the subscription channels as well) than the freesat box although most freesat boxes can add the free channels to a non-freesat mode channel list but without an EPG other than "now and next".
