I put 4 coats of paint over a mural in my bedroom. It has managed to come through this. I have been told that dilute pva glue on the wall will seal it in so I can paint over it again, is this true and if so how much water to pva glue to use?

It should tell you on the can it comes in. I think 6 water to 1 pva is the ratio often used to seal things such as porous ceilings and flaky walls etc.

Try a coat of white undercoat and then paint over that. It worked for me to cover some very stubborn biro.

...Or you can get that paint to put over old damp stains - might be worth a go if the PVA sleaing coat doesn't work. By the time you've got it sorted, you may have a smaller room......
