Anyone made any mods to their 360 pads to better suit their requirements?

I'll quickly point out, I don't mean rapid fire mods or anything of that ilk. Just ergonomic mods to better suit your gaming.

I've decided I want to slack off the spring tension in the analogue sticks. I've found I can't get past the yo-yo effect of pushing too hard to overcome the spring tension and then having to correct the other way, so in FPS for instance the reticule bounces up and down as I try to get a bead on a target.
I think the sticks are sealed units though, so modding them will be a fiddly process.

Anyone else made any similar mods?

    Super,

I've glued a disc of resin sandpaper on top of analogue sticks to give much better grip.
Now my thumb wears out before the sticks!

    Regards,

    Simon

    Lol - I like it.

I've followed the thread about the FPSFreek stick addons and alternatives. I'm contemplating getting some of those.

I've noticed there's a lot of variation between pads. My main pad, and the spare that my wife uses are worlds apart - don't like the feel of hers (no double entendre to see here) at all.

Quite tempted by the thumb sticks - only thing that really bugs be about the 360 controller is the stick click sensitivity, I find if I have to backtrack quickly in an FPS I end up clicking the stick and duck, resulting in me aiming too low and moving much slower than I like - it's worst in GRAW as I end up going prone and becoming a sitting duck while trying to kill someone by getting a "foot shot". :(

Something else I'd like to do is transplant 360 sticks into a DS3, the rounded top bugs me somewhat...

One thing I would like to get are some rubber sides for the controller as I often find the palm of my hands get sweaty after a long time gaming and whilst they don't slip off, it does distract me.
Can you get mouled grips for the sides of the controller where you place your hands around?

    Some interesting stuff here

Daft as it may sound the sandpaper works great - my thumb almost sticks to it. I glued some 80 grit aluminium oxide resin paper that's got velcro backing - gives a bit of cushioning. Basically cost me nowt

    Thumbs up !!!

I ordered on the same date, I think . They only turned up yesterday.

I contacted them on Friday as the status on the order hadn't changed from "Processed", by yesterday it showed "Shipped" and it was with me the same day...

I then got an Email apologising and blaming the weather on the delay. In fairness their customer service was good. I bought the Geltabz from jackofallgames.co.uk

If you ordered from the same place and they haven't turned up yet, log into your account with your email address and password and check the delivery status. I would then drop them an Email mate just to make sure it's on the way.

    HTH, Chris

Cost is about $15 but unsure about UK availability.

They look good, I could do with some of them. Might scour eBay to see if there are any on there.

Make your official controller look like a cheap Madcatz one.

lol, i dont find the controllers slippy, id just like a bit more control for my thumbs.

I'd only buy those gel skins if my controller was like a wet bar of soap :smashin:

Id like to see a picture of that, if you have a camera and the spare time.

What do your friends say when they see your controller, my friends would rip it out of me.

Brilliant - Felt unusual at first and to be honest for a good few hours whilst they bedded in. If anything they felt a touch slippier. But after a good few hours gaming I decided to take them off and my god you can tell the difference. I instantly put them back on again and noticed I can make more tactile adjustments and hold the thumbsticks more naturally. Definately worth £5 mate! Don't get me wrong if your poo pipe your not going to become good, but they do help you get your aim a bit easier I find.

Yep they do, but my palms get sweaty and I hate the feeling of a damp sweaty controller so this might just be the trick!

    @ Chrisoldinho:

I've always used a silicon skin case for my controllers - not only does it give a better grip, but they also keep any muck/grime from forming in the grooves of the controller.

Available very cheaply from ebay for about £2-£3: XBox 360 controller Silicon Skin

Hi mate, I heard that they weren't a "perfect" fit, and that they often were loose.

    Can you confirm/deny this please?

The three or four that I've used on my pads have always fitted really well to be honest. I guess there might be an element of luck involved, but I've had nothing but positive experiences. Well worth a punt at £2-£3 anyway
