I have a Packard Bell desktop PC running Window XP and have just got a external hard drive that I have connected via USB, but everytime I turn PC on with it on the computer just hangs! I believe this is because I have got boot from USB drive turned on!! How can I turn this off I know it is in the system BIOS but can't seem to find Someone has said don't turn it off just turn external off boot up PC then turn external on. I know this will work but would rather not do this if possible!!

The very first screen the computer displays should give you a key to press to enter the bios. F1/F2/Delete are common. In there should be the option to set boot order, putting the USB drive after the hard drive or turning it off should both ensure the system doesn't try to access it on bootup.
