    Hi,

Just brought the Packard Bell DVD-DivX 350 Progressive Scan DVD Player from PCWorld. Just trying to do some research on it and of course see if there is a hand set hack for it out there?

Cannot see anything listed or not in the "Unhackable List" Forum, so just posting this out for some input if there is any.

Some Player Specs are as follows:

    £60 from PCWorld
Video Support: DivX Certified, All Usual DVD Formats/Progressive Scan
Audio: Built in MP3 Decoder/Dolby Digital/dts Digital Out
    Video Output: Component Out/S-Video/Composite
    Sound Output: Optical Out/Coaxial Out/Dolby 5.1 Support

    =======================================================
"Progressive Scan On + Disney Pixars Monsters Inc + 42" Plasma through Component Connection has restored my faith in the possibility of quality video output on the plasma screen."

Just wondered, was thinking of picking one of these up tomorrow. Had a question for you though. Can you wack a load of divx files, like TV Ep rips onto a dvd and just play them "off the bat" like that. I know the KISS players will do it but not sure on this one. I would ask at PC World but can't be bothered with the blank informationless stare from the staff

    Cheers in Advance

    Hey Elderwin,

Unfortunately, I came home the following day from work, and "now my evidence is not conclusive", I think my daughter had a play at loading a DVD. When I got home the display said "Open" and the tray was not open. I think my darling daughter "shoved" a disc in and it got jammed.

Had to take it back before my trials began.

last note on this as it isnt really a hack. Tried one out today with a data dvd with 12 TV divx avi rips, and the file frontend worked fine and played all the eps.

Switch on from cold. Open drawer and leave open. Press the following keys:
7 5 1 8 0 waiting inbetween each number for the little 'hand' symbol top left to disappear. 'All Regions' should be displayed.

Needs rekeying if you disconnect power, so write it down somewhere!!

    Hi mh123,

I haven't tried that yet, as I was told that you had to do everytime you put a disc in?

Do you know if it's everytime you power down the front switch, or do you have to actually turn off the mains to loose it?

    Cheers

    Mark.

Have you had a chance to try this yet? Or has anyone else tried this hack? I'm thinking of buying one (they have some on eBay for like £40) but don't want to if I can't make it multi-region.

    Thanks!

Hack works a treat. So far not had to re-key it; have played several discs R1/R2/R0 without any problems.

I'm now 99% sure you only need to re-key the code after a complete power-off rather than standby.

If you turn the power off on the front button it's gone, I find this really annoying with the kids.........

So if anyones finds a permanent hack I'd be really pleased, cos it is a really good little player other wise......

Still it's only 5 numbers... a sticker on the back of the remote is all that's needed until you can remember it! I'm sure most people have a majority of R2/R0 discs anyway with just a smattering of R1/3/4/5/6.

Great player for the money. Progressive Scan, component out and a full set of 5.1 outputs is definitely a bonus.

    "Still it's only 5 numbers... "

Is fine for us, but unfortunatly I bought this for my 2 and 4 year olds and they have a few R1s, just makes a good little player a bit of a pain.....
