Pace V2 freezes/speeds up - HDD problem ?

Hi fellas,

I've got a V2 Pace Box (had it about 2 years now) -

I've recently started having problems with playback of recordings.

It freezes, then speeds up, no sound, then it goes OK for a bit, then it plays up again.

It only happens on some recordings.

So could it be that my original HDD is on its last legs, and there are some dodgy sectors which are casuing the problems.

Is this a standard problem - and if so - would a new HDD sort it out.

If this is the case, then I'm happy to chuck a new HDD in,

I was hoping to hang on till I get a Sky+HD, but judging by the expected roll-out problems, it looks like I might have to bite the bullet.

Any Ideas ?

cheers

Watch a live programme, and record it at the same time. If the live programme is OK, but the recorded one is bad, then it's 99% likely to be the HDD on it's way out.
You could try turning off instant rewind - doing this will ease the load on the HDD, and may help.
