    I s there any way to record external material onto the hard drive. I notice there is a computer type of plug on the rear , can this be used ?

    No. There is a program called TwinRIP what allows you to put the Pace HD in a PC and extract programme material it from there. I do not know if it can put data back there, but even if it was possible, the harddrive would still have to be outside the box. Sounds like you want a Tivo, Loewe DR+ or maybe a DVD recorder possibly with built in harddrive.
