Does anyone have any further info on this set top box?

After a search on here someone replied that it would not be able to pick up any of the Sky channels, is this still the case, or is there/will there be a version particularly aimed at the sky market?

It does not have Videoguard and is intended for the very young High Defintion market using mpegII (maybe upgradable to mpeg4) broadcasts.
Does it access standard DVBS (standard definition) broadcasts and/or downconvert HD to PAL spec? I am not sure but there are just as good and cheaper STB's if you only want a good FTA/CAM capable Dsat STB.

PACE can not release anything capable of decoding SKY's encrypted broadcasts without having permission from NDS (and the license) which in effect means permission from SKY. However PACE could very well be a supplier of SKY's as yet to ba announced High Def STB but that product is over a year away at best.

thanks for that starburst, I was particularly interested in the component/digital output.
Are you aware of any STB that give this connectivity?
Trying to optimise the sky picture.

To access SKY subscription services and the FTV (ITV1, CH4 and Five) channels you have to use a SKY STB in conjunction with a SKY smartcard. None of these come with component or digital video output. However you do have a few options, the PACE SKY+ version1 can be modified with a SDI video output bypassing the analogue conversion and then fed into a suitable scaler or display.
A cheaper route would be to use a good quality RGB to Component converter, take a look at products from J.S. Tech, you get what you pay for:)
There is also an option of using a standalone scaler/de-interlacer, good option if you have a display that is higher resolution than standard PAL such as 1280*720 LCD or Plasma. Would I suspect be of some use for lower resolution displays but I do not know enough about the older/cheaper video processing options.

As you may gather there is not a great deal you can do cheaply to significantly improve low bitrate/poorly transcoded and poorly presented programming via UK digital broadcasts.
Cheapest option is a good quality interconnect but that still wouldn't alter the original image just reduce any further degredation.
