I've noticed that BBC2 and BBC choice picture quality has been very poor over the last couple of days. A bit like the image quality you would expect from a £50 web cam, Blocky/ pixellated.

Is this the way it will always be I wonder?

I'm using a good quality 4:3 set by the way.

I've not noticed anything wrong with the BBC2 picture quality myself over the last few days. I can't comment on BBC Choice, don't watch the channel.

Perhaps BBC2 isn't that bad (I exaggerated slightly) but watching robot wars on choice yesterday was unacceptable, quality wise, in my view.
The main channels are fine though.

    Just as well it's free.

I find BBC 1 and 2 are usually some the BEST quality channels

If, by "blocky" you mean the picture breaking into eg: roughly 1cm squares... this sounds like poor reception. I had that with my minidish in bad weather. I bought a larger 55 cm dish and have never seen it since...
    Could also be dish alignment.
How does yr signal strength look, in the digibox Setup menu ?

I've found that BBC2 has been particularly bad in the last two days. It is normally a great picture, so I wonder if they are using the available bandwidth for something else?

    Regards

According to some posts on digitalspy this is due to some testing being carried out by the BBC. Apparently the bandwidth on the BBC's mux has been cut from 24Mbit/sec to 18. I think that the bandwidth for BBC1 has been protected however as this hasn't suffered in the same way as all the other BBC channels. The interactive world cup stuff is apparently being broadcast on Mux A which carries Channel 5, QVC, TV Travel Shop so is not responsible for this.

I wouldn't have thought the BBC would carry these kind of tests out live, especially with the present poor results.

Any email address I can send a complaint to? BBC2 is almost unacceptable at the moment. I thought the whole point of digital TV was high quality pictures and sound...

    Regards

Could you send that email to NTL too? They require informing of that fact.

I must say that the sound and picture of the nights Jubilee concert on BBC 1/NTL digital was impressive.

Have Black Beauty on at the moment on BBC2 (reminds me of my youth :p). It's been compressed to death, unfortunately. Very blocky indeed.

My theory is that the less popular programmes are suffering ...
