Being a Pace twin owner I am geting fed up with the constant locking and then having to unplug and replug

    So thinking of a relacement

Since looking around 6 months ago there seems to be more choise but are they just as bad or is there now a reliable PVR

The Humax single tuner job is probably the most reliable.

Many people sing praises for the Topfield - expensive (GBP 300 or so), very highly specified and (as far as I can gather) not wholly free from issues.

New on the market is an 80gb model from Digifusion. GBP199 from John Lewis or (typically) 15% more at Dixon$. Its predecessor was fairly highly regarded, I believe.

Panasonic have one; again very highly specified. Mine was easily as unreliable as the Pace and much slower - I gather a software update has improved things but I don't trust it - it went back for a refund. GBP300 or so. The User Interface is dreadful (IMO).

There's an Inverto imminent or just available; early (beta) users spoke very highly of it......

There's a Sagem available at Argos. It's quirky, I gather, and you can only record one thing at a time (unlike many other twin tuner boxes).

My Humax 8000 has not put a foot wrong so far.

Could do witha second tuner but for what it is, it's fine.

Thinking of upgrading the hard drive soon. (Live8 has filled the olld one and I haven't set up the DVD recorder yet.)

Being an ex-Pace owner myself  I appreciate your concerns - offloading my Pace on Ebay :rotfl: was the best thing i ever did - I'm now a proud owner of a Toppy, which does pretty much everything the Pace did - but RELIABLY SO
Also, you might want to check out the new Inverto 7000 and the digifusion 200 - both have 80gb HDD - and retail at around £230 and £199 respectively.

i have a Humax single tuner and it as never ever put a foot wrong i also have a DigiFusion which so far as work 100% for the last few months. a pace twin lays hard driveless in my spare room but if they do another upgrade in august i will stick a drive in it and give it another go but i am not holding my breath on that upgrade or that it will fix all the problems.
