    Hi,
    I wonder if someone from Arcam can comment on the following idea.

    Current I have the following speakers and 2 P7's

    Kef Ref 203 (front) which I will tri-amp with a P7
    Kef Ref 201 (rear) which I will tri-amp with a P7
    Kef TDM34DS (surrounds) single wire

    Kef ref 202c (centre) which I am thinking of using a P35/3 to tri amp.

    My question is, it the P35/3 good enough and compatible with the P7 for this purpose?

    Regards
    John

    Hi John,

    The problem here is its a value judgement and I try to avoid doing them as I am clearly biased. It will sound better with another P7 however its a lot of money and a P35 3 channel is very nearly as good.

    Having drawn out your configuration I think I would try the following.

    Try to use three channels of your existing P7 for the centre.

    So the configuration is as follows;

    L / R triamp from P7 (1)

    Centre triamp from P7 (2)

    Surrounds single amp from P35.

    Back biamp from P7(2)

    or

    you could try;

    Front L/R from P7 (1)

    Centre triamp P7 (2)

    Surrounds single P7(2)

    Back single from P7(2)

    The reason for suggesting this is that for any multichannel play back a very large amount of the information is in the centre channel so you don't really want to compromise it. i.e films - all the dialogue and centre stage action music - lead vocal and often lead instrument as well.

    Money No object, then definately get another P7, it will help pay my wages
    :)

    So as I said I am a bit biased but I have tryed to give some solutions that I think will work better. One of them is even a no cost option so you can try that.

    Regards,
    Andrew
