    Hi all,

As the header says... Praise is for Cornwall Electronics who I contacted yesterday mid afternoon to purchase a SPL meter and they got it to me in West London (work address) this morning!!! I was extremely happy and surprised. Now I can spend the weekend measuring the Db of my farts!! Oh and calibrating the HC system.

Query: Just got Fast and the Furious (for a tenner:smashin: ) but I found it had real bad lyp sinc problems. I'm playing it through a Samsung 709 which despite getting on a bit now is an excellent machine and has never had a problem with any other film. So the query is, is this a known problem with this disk? Or should I take it back and hope it was just a dodgy disc?

    Thanks in advance.

Cheers Garrett, I wasn't sure because of the first part of the thread.

So, anyone else? Or is the excuse I'm waiting for to get a new machine....?

    :)

I had lip synch problems with my 709 but only on DTS
soundtracks. Having checked various forums in the hope
of finding out what caused the fault, I found that the
    problem was quite common.
Over a period of time, one of the chips deteriates due to
the heat generated by the player therefore causing lip synch
    probs.
Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks worked fine though.
I've now changed my player because of the sound problems.

    Hi all,

Thought I'd let you know how it went with my spl meter...
My front L & R are not an equal distance to me or the tv so I had the balance set in favour of the one that is slightly further away. I had to turn the balance back a little way.
The centre was bought up by 3Db's. (six 0.5db's) the the rear 3 were all bought up by lots!!! I had turned them to the low level they were as I thought they were too overpowering. Fast And The Furious now sounds "fantastic" compared to the "briilliant" it was before.

    Definately an indespensible little toy!

Only query, THX Optimode required me to do different settings, but I think that as I don't have a THX setup it doesn't apply to me. Can anyone confirm please?

    Thanks
