      Thanks for the review Caz

I got the Apple TV 4K stream version and the Atmos track on that is wonderfully ferocious - the best I’ve heard on the ATV. The opening scene of the film is something else isn’t it!

Cheers Cas. I agree with the comments on the Atmos track, one if the best! Possibly the best opening sequence I've ever heard.

Absolutely loved this. Like a bizarre cross between Saving Private Ryan and Re-Animator. Definitely a Friday night with a beer and take away job.

I loved Overlord, and yet some critics have given it one star. Clearly they are out of touch with those they are meant to be informing. (often the case).

I saw this in november even though i wasn’t planning on seeing it in the cinema.
It was presented with Dolby Atmos and from the get-go i was immersed in a picture that i ended up enjoying from beginning till the end !
Yes it is a B-movie styled film but it does it so well it works.

I already got the US disc and it’s a winner as well.
I can recommend this movie to everyone who likes a movie that doesn’t take itself to seriously.

Now i’m off to the cinema for CAPTAIN MARVEL :D

It cost $38 million dollars to make and only just made it over that at the box office.

I saw it twice in IMAX. You’ve got to make the most of these sort of films, as we don’t get many of them these days.

Thanks @Casimir Harlow. Quick question, I have this on blu ray pre-order, but certainly don't want to miss out on the atmos track. Does the blu ray also have an atmos track or do I need to pay the extra for the UHD?

I came out of a press screening onetime, forget which film, and behind me one critic said to his colleague: "I really enjoyed it but of course I can't write that, it is not what my readers would expect of me."

It will make its money back on ancillary, so blu-ray, DVD, VOD etc. And the best thing about losing money in the movie business anyway is that it can be set against profits made elsewhere.

loved this film and it was obvious how good it would look in 4K so I ordered the Ultra blu. Can't wait for it to arrive and see it again!

I'm sure you've all seen it but there's a scene toward the end of Ratatouille in which Peter O'Toole's character explains that the work of a critic is basically meaningless unless it's in the defence of something of new. This is exactly the sort of film that would have benefitted from a few more friendly reviews. I grew up watching this sort of stuff and my Bluray collection must be 85% cult movies from the 80's & 90's. Overlord will definitely fit in nicely to that collection.

10/10 for audio? Are you sure it wasn't meant to be 15/10? ;)

The trailer made this film look awful imo but turned out to be a cracking film. My new demo film, simply breathtaking sound track. Highly recommended.

Watched this a few nights ago, it's a bit poor. Felt like it had been cut to ribbons. Quality wise is great though. Pity the trailers made it look a lot better than the final product.

Some good moments but a bit too by-the-numbers with everything road mapped.
I'd like to see more US war films where everything isn't a democracy of doing 'the right thing' over the mission. Luckily there were up against German soldiers who shoot as accurately as a Star Wars Storm Trooper.
More continuity errors than you can shake a talking head at but it's not a serious film so who cares - they didn't.
It passes quick enough though so 7/10 for me.

The drop scene was brilliant with the atmos soundtrack....the rest of the movie was so so.

Reviews are a double edged sword because they can sell a film as much as they can kill it, although there are some films that, by nature of the cast and/or subject, are simply 'critic proof' (I'm thinking here of the treatment doled out to Bohemian Rhapsody). In the end a review is just someone's opinion, but what is problematic is when that someone, who is not the target audience, and has no experience or love of the genre in question, can exercise a degree of influence out of all proportion. That Overlord made it into cinemas is thanks to its producer's heavyweight status, hence a selling point, and a studio distribution standing foursquare behind it. I suspect our respective blu-ray and DVD collections have a great deal in common.
