Overhauling AV setup - need advice =)

Hi, I'm planning on overhauling my A/V setup this year and wanted to be prepared with the right cables. I'll be getting the Pioneer VSX-C301 receiver into which I will direct all audio from my PC/PS2/GC/DVD (Sony DVP-NS730) player (2 optical, 1 coaxial and the GC PLII sound will go through its official RGB cable). I have one optical link bought from a game store for £15 that seems fine but if anyone can suggest any (noticeably) higher quality optical/coaxial cables that will really enhance the quality on the equipment I'll be getting, that would be great =) Speakers will be Pioneer SV50 btw.

As for video, what I'm really interested in is component. I'll be getting the Iiyama Prolite C480T, which has component input and supports Progressive Scan (correct me if I'm wrong). However, as the C301 doesn't have component input/output, and I can't afford a receiver that does, this means buying 2 component cables (GC and PS2 offer their own, using DVI for PC) and using a switcher to select devices. Are there any cheap (I doubt I'll need the best of cables for the equipment I'll have, right?) component cable switchers/cable out there?

I'm in the UK btw, so please suggest sellers based here =)

Also, when PC audio is output to the receiver, will the receiver try to decode it or will it pass straight through into the speakers? I don't want the EAX data that my soundcard has processed to be chopped down and unfaithfully reproduced =)

I've found a reasonably priced AV receiver with component switching so I no longer need information on that. I'm still a cable novice though, so if anyone can suggest medium quality component/toslink/coaxial digital cables that would be great =)

have a look at the profigold range. They have some well rated/reviewed cables and also the philex thor cables for the componant output. try

www.tvcables.co.uk
www.jarvisradio.com
www.play.com they seem to be doing the thor cables cheap at the moment. Maplins also sell the thor cables.

Hoe this helps
