    hi
yeah, as far as i am aware. love the demo . with regards to the controller, you can get adapters that will allow you to use a gamecube or playstation pad if you prefer those, i have to say i really like the controller s i have :)
    regards

I still use the old bigger Xbox pads......is the smaller one a lot better (comfort wise) ?

I don't have massive hands or anything like that !!

    outrun2 rocks!
nothing like a quick arcade retro throwback fix like this, great stuff.

adam*b, the s controller has got a much better feel to it. and imo has a bit of better button layout. with the big daddy pad, the white and black buttons are a little out of the way and ive got big hands!
this said though, ive only used the bigger pad a couple of times.

adam*B: i agree with H4r7y. the layout is much better and bascially just all round more comfortable...i think i actually prefer it to my playstation pads...having said that, there are those out there who do still prefer the original xbox pad...so i guess it might be wise for you to try and borrow one to try out before hand prehaps if you do already get on ok with the larger one.
    each to their own :p
    regards

I'd give the xbox controller a go mate. You can't beat it for racing games. The analogue finger triggers at the back are the best!

    Yes, I have...very disappointing

LOADS of lag and a lot of slowdown when 6 cars are on-screen at once

The offline mode is f*cking amazing, and one of the best games of this year though...but the online racing is very poor. The rest of the online stuff (time trials, ghosts etc) is very good though, and done really well

As for all the racing games, i will use my Modena 360 steering wheel, which i got for £30.
Being that i love racing games certainly not a bad investment, only the price of one new game.

The smaller xbox pads are better in my opinion. But I have friends who will only use the big ones. At the end of the day its down to personal choice but a £5 adapter will allow you to use whatever pad you like really.

In fact my mate has just got an adapter that lets you use a mouse and keyboard with the xbox for FPS. So theres no excuse now to own the best console avaialble. By a mile................

I thought this game was rubbish. Played for about half an hour with different cars. Naff handling.

Can anyone tell my why whe I'm doing 179mph in a Ferrari and I drop back to say, 160mph, I get overtaken by small hatchbacks and trucks? Part of the challenge should be the speed differential as in Burnout but whe ordinary trafiic is doing 180mph it becomes very dull.

    Oversteer is a joke too.

i think its a genuine attempt of getting the same feel as the original arcade.
its not a simulation or anything like it, just an out and out arcade laugh.

    Its dull, lame, slow, boring.

Maybe with a steering wheel it would be better but its crap with the pad, and its going back on monday, pony.

This is simply the best arcade racer ever!

Heart Attack mode is where the game is at, any game where you get rewarded for powersliding for 10 seconds plus has got to put a smile on your face :)

Give it some time, learn how to keep your speed up etc. and it will reward.

Its great, the only annoying thing for me (being a picky barsteward), is that when you enter the town, the banner says "wellcome to our town", proper engrish

How long have you played it? And what were you expecting when you bought it?

It's certainly not dull, lame, slow or boring IMO...there is plenty of variety in the Arcade games and the mission mode is incredibly varied. The online ghost function is the best use of Live I've ever seen. The handling is PERFECT once you get used to it - treat it like a sim and you'll go nowhere with it; treat it like an arcade game and you'll be screaming around corners at 180mph and powersliding around the tightest bends without even clipping the edges!

how can any one say this game is boring or crap?
this is just a remake of the first and its bloody exellent !
if these are the views about it now then they must have been the same all them years ago with the first, so why bother even buying this one ?

but the one in my post above will let you connect about 4 console pads up to the xbox, so no need to buy individual ones for each console costing ~£10 each.

It will let you connect three different types of pads PS/PS2, Dreamcast, Saturn but not at the same time.

Unlike the PS2 the xbox has 4 ports so no port replication feature is available or needed (As with the PS2 Multitap). Well that is my understanding anyway.

If you confirm it can connect mutiple pads at the same time, great, I will certainly get one as I also have a DC and love the pads. In any event having the ability to use the DC and Ps2 pad may make it worth the extra outlay.

Probably worth starting a thread on this anyway as I am sure loads of people would like to try it.

The first was awesome, but things have moved on big time since then, this sadly hasn't, so while good in short bursts(like in the arcade), its pap for a good session.

Ridge racer on the PS1 is better.
